The Faculty offers support to all students and strives to be particularly accessible for those who encounter challenges during their studies. At the Faculty, we have a coordinator and mentor dedicated to supporting students with disabilities. Their role is to help these students overcome academic barriers arising from their disabilities, ensuring their successful and quality education. The Student Centre is an organisation that handles student employment, accommodation and meals. The Student Centre also provides cultural, sports, educational and IT services

The Student Service, which is responsible for student employment, is located at the same address as the Student Centre.

Student accommodation is organised at the "Dr. Franjo Tuđman" student dormitory. The dormitory is located at Osječka 7, Požega, just 900 meters from the Faculty of Tourism and Rural Development. The student dormitory offers the following amenities:

  • 110 beds in double and triple rooms with bathrooms, including 62 beds for disadvantaged students and 2 beds for students with disabilities.
  • a fully equipped kitchen with a dining hall which can accommodate eighty people
  • a kitchenette and a dining room
  • a gym
  • a media library
  • a fully equipped common study room
  • a laundry room
  • a bicycle storage room

The monthly accommodation fee per student with subsidised housing in the "Dr. Franjo Tuđman" student dormitory is:

  • Single room for students with disabilities per month: €63
  • Double room per month: €63
  • Triple room per month: €36

The "Osječka" student restaurant, located in the "Dr. Franjo Tuđman" student dormitory at Osječka 7, offers subsidised student meals. The restaurant has a capacity of 80 seats and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner to students.

The estimated student expenses range between €266 and €390, depending on whether the student is accommodated in a student dormitory or private housing.

University Scholarships


Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek awards scholarships and grants to full-time students enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, integrated undergraduate and graduate university studies, as well as undergraduate professional and specialist graduate professional studies at the scientific-teaching and artistic-teaching faculties. The awarding of these scholarships and grants is in accordance with the conditions and criteria established by the Regulations on the Conditions and Methods for Granting Student Scholarships and Grants of Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek. The Regulations specify the general conditions, criteria and methods for awarding scholarships. Scholarships and grants are awarded in the following categories:


Category A – Scholarships for academic excellence, according to the following subcategories: 

A1.) Students in later years of study at the scientific-teaching components of the University

A2.) First-year students enrolled in undergraduate university, undergraduate professional, and integrated university studies at the scientific-teaching faculties

A3.) First-year students enrolled in graduate university and specialist graduate professional studies at the scientific-teaching faculties 

A4.) Students in later years of study and first-year students enrolled in graduate studies at the artistic-teaching faculties


Category B – Scholarships for students who are active athletes 


Category C – Scholarships for students in financial need, according to the following subcategories:

C1.) Students from lower-income households

C2.) Students with disabilities 

C3.) Students who are members of potentially vulnerable groups


Category D – Grants for students facing financial hardships 

Scholarships and grants to cover study costs ranging from 50% to 100% of the tuition fee amount are awarded as a one-time payment. Student scholarships are paid in monthly installments over one academic year, covering the period from October 1 of the current academic year to September 30 of the following year.


Student Support at the Faculty Level

Full-time students who belong to underrepresented or vulnerable groups can apply for a reduction in study costs, subsidization of meal expenses, or assistance with necessary teaching materials. Students who hold a health card issued by the Croatian Health Insurance Fund (HZZO) are entitled to receive healthcare services at the health centre or the emergency room.

Counselling Centre for School Children and Youth

The Counselling Centre for School Children and Youth provides support for a variety of issues, including difficulties with learning, communication, chronic illnesses, behaviour, addictions and reproductive health. Additionally, the centre can help individuals learn more about themselves and their health.

The Faculty of Tourism and Rural Development in Požega offers an insurance policy for its students to cover the consequences of accidents during the academic year 2023-2024.

Internships are a mandatory component of all study programs at the Faculty of Tourism and Rural Development. In the professional undergraduate programs of Enogastronomy, Electronic Business and Software Engineering and Accounting, the internship is undertaken across 4 semesters during the 2nd and 3rd years, while in the undergraduate university programme of Tourism, it is conducted in the 3rd year. The Faculty of Tourism and Rural Development in Požega aims to organise, promote, develop and improve academic sports and recreational activities. Požega is a relatively small town, and all major institutions and landmarks are located in the town center, making them easily accessible on foot. However, some parts of the town are located further from the centre and can only be reached via the city bus service operated by Slavonijabus d.o.o.
