The need for IT professionals and employees who understand economic and business processes has never been greater. The digitalisation of business and ubiquitous electronic communication have created a demand for experts with fundamental economic and business knowledge, an understanding of business processes, and advanced IT skills. In 2021, the Faculty of Tourism and Rural Development established a new study programme in business informatics, tailored to the labour market, and enrolled its first generation of future experts in this field. The programme comprises approximately 40 compulsory courses, through which students acquire the necessary knowledge in economics, business, communication, digital technologies, foreign languages and software engineering. Additionally, students gain highly needed advanced IT knowledge by taking around ten courses related to operating systems, computer architecture, databases, programming mobile, web, and desktop applications, computer networks and artificial intelligence. The programme also offers around twenty elective subjects, allowing students to focus on topics and areas of personal interest.
In conclusion, this comprehensive study programme at the Faculty of Tourism and Rural Development ensures that future professionals will be well-prepared for the challenges of the modern labour market, combining essential economic knowledge with advanced IT skills, thus meeting the growing needs of the business world.
