Students of the Faculty of Tourism and Rural Development gained valuable international experience by participating in a short-term student mobility for study purposes במסגרת the Erasmus+ programme. Specifically, Nina Milinković, Vanilla Čiberova, and Lana Valentić (Tourism study programme), along with Dora Mikolčević (Accounting study programme), spent one month at the partner institution, Ordu University in Ordu, Turkey.
During their stay, the students actively participated in classes and attended courses, during which study visits to nearby cities and their cultural and historical landmarks were organised, including Samsun, Giresun, and Trabzon. This field-based learning enabled them to gain firsthand insight into the region's rich cultural heritage and specific characteristics.
Special support throughout the mobility was provided by Erasmus alumni of the Faculty, Gozde Ozguler and Melike Dogan, whose experience and advice further enriched the students’ stay.
Thanks to Georgia's proximity, the students used their free time for a trip and a meeting with Erasmus alumnus Gocha Shishmanashvili, thereby further expanding their international network.
They emphasise that this mobility was an exceptionally valuable and interesting experience, during which they had the opportunity to explore a new culture, try numerous traditional Turkish specialities, and bring home supplies of authentic coffee and tea. Upon their return, the students highlight that they brought many positive impressions and new knowledge of the culture and way of life in this part of the world.
Their mobility once again confirms that the Erasmus+ programme not only enables the acquisition of academic and professional competences but also successfully connects people, fosters intercultural understanding, and creates lasting friendships that transcend national and cultural boundaries.
